It’s World Nature Conservation Day and we’re so excited to celebrate! This day is a reminder that we can learn how to better conserve natural resources and celebrate making small changes! Here are a few things you can easily do to conserve nature.

  • Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: If you live close to your work, try biking one day a week instead of driving. Pack a reusable bag to the grocery or a reusable water bottle on your trail walk. Save up your recycling for a visit to the local recycling center. Turn off the lights when you leave a room. Take a shorter shower. These can be small changes to your routine that add up to make a big difference!

  • Volunteer:  Volunteering to help clean up local land is a great way to get outdoors (there’s usually plenty of space for social distancing) and make an impact on nature in your community! We have many year-round volunteer opportunities here at the Cave. Be sure to join us for Earth Week, rescheduled to September, to help native plants and animals thrive!

  • Support Conservation Organizations: If there were no conservation organizations, where would we be? Choose your favorite conservation organization, whether it be a national organization like U.S. Fish & Wildlife or a local preserve like Lost River Cave, and donate! You can donate or become a member to help conserve the 72-acre Park and 7 natural ecosystems at Lost River Cave.

  • Educate Others: Spread the word! Tell your friends what you’re doing to celebrate and conserve today and every day.
