What a weekend! One of our busiest times every year is the Fourth of July weekend and we can tell you that 2022 was no different. It was an extraordinary weekend in service of our mission. Read on to hear just how many tour guests visited Lost River Cave and from where they traveled!
This year’s Fourth of July weekend at Lost River Cave was one for the record books. We didn’t just experience record-breaking temperatures, but saw a record-breaking number of boat tour guests, too.
Over the holiday weekend, we saw just shy of three thousand guests on the Cave Boat Tour. Yes, you read that right 3000 visitors and that’s not including our shoppers, junior explorers, and trail walkers.
Those visitors traveled from 31 states – ranging from the sunny west coast of California to the scenic coastlines of Massachusetts – as well as some international visitors.
We had 18 tour guides working their magic this weekend. They welcomed our traveling friends from near and far and taught them about the Cave’s geology, history, folklore, and our mission. Our guides gave a whopping total of 76 tours this weekend and earned high acclaim from guests.
Read a few great guest reviews below and check out photos from some of our amazing team that worked the weekend!
“My family and I visited Lost River Cave in July 2022. We were not disappointed. The grounds were beautiful and very well maintained. Our boat tour guide was full of information and lighthearted jokes. He really made the tour special and was able to answer any questions we had. The gift shop had lots of great souvenirs to offer and the air conditioning in the shop as well as the natural air conditioning of the cave was a nice escape from the Kentucky heat and humidity. I would highly recommend this tour.”

“The Lost Cave was pretty cool. My husband and I have been on cave tours before but not one in a boat. Our 2 tour guides were very knowledgeable and fun! I would definitely suggest a visit!!”
