Each program blends hands-on activities with real scientific concepts.[vc_toggle title=”Cave Boat Tour – All Ages” css=””] \n\n\nThe Cave Boat Tour begins with a leisurely stroll in the valley as your guide shares stories and geographical facts. Then board a boat and duck your head under the Wishing Rock to enter the cave\, where your knowledgeable guide will share more about the history\, geology\, and biology of Lost River Cave. \nThe boat tour is appropriate for all ages. Please note that all children must be accompanied by a parent\, guardian\, or other responsible adult.  \n\n\n\n[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Geology Rocks – ages 6-12″ css=””] \nBest for ages 6-12\, this program introduces kids to rock and mineral properties through a hands-on lesson and then a scientific experiment. Kids will finish up gem mining at our sluice trough outdoors. \nMining rough is included in the cost of this lesson\, but more can be purchased separately in the gift shop day-of![/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Critters of the Cave – ages 8-12″ css=””] \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nCompete for detritus\, bugs\, guano\, and other vital sources of nutrients as one of five unique underground creatures found in Lost River Cave! This 45-minute program takes aboveground\, but will give kids 8-12 an inside look at the complexities of cave food webs. Pairs excellently with the boat tour. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Birds of the Wetland – ages 5-7″ css=””] \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \nThis program gives young children a dynamic\, hands-on look at the habitat needs of birds. Kids will learn about how birds\, like us\, need food\, water\, shelter and space. The activity includes touchable samples and ends with a hands-on outdoor game. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Go Deep with Marine ROVs – ages 13-17″ css=””] \n\n\n\n\nLearn to set up and pilot marine ROVs! Students age 13 and up will work in groups to get their robots going\, and then control them as they travel deep underwater to search the depths of Lost River Cave’s Blue Holes with sophisticated cameras. This is a great opportunity to learn problem-solving and teamwork while getting a unique tech-assisted look into karst topography. \n\n\n\n\nParticipants should expect to walk 1/4-1/2 mile as we explore the cave valley. \n\n\n\n\n[/vc_toggle][vc_toggle title=”Guided Hike – all ages” css=””] \n\n\nHike and learn about Lost River Cave’s unique ecosystem and karst valley with knowledgeable and friendly park guides.
