It’s a great way to make a tangible impact on the environment\, learn about the importance of biodiversity\, and meet like-minded people who care about conservation. Tools\, gloves\, and guidance will be provided—just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to get your hands dirty. Come as you can\, for the duration you can. \n  \nThis event is perfect for individuals who are comfortable with physical activities such as bending\, crouching\, and pulling. Volunteers will be engaging in hands-on tasks like removing weeds\, digging up roots\, and pulling out invasive plants from the ground. \n  \nWild Ones members and non-members are welcome to attend! This event\, known as a BioBlitz\, is a partner project with Wild Ones Southern Kentucky Chapter. We will inventory native plants that will be currently in bloom in the meadow to help chart the path for its ongoing restoration. \n  \nParticipants of all skill levels and experience are encouraged to attend!  Printed paper guides and/or the Seek phone app will provide all the tools you need. To use the electronic aid\, download and set up the Seek app before you arrive. \n  \nWe can’t wait to see you![/vc_column_text]Register to Volunteer![vc_empty_space][vc_empty_space][vc_column_text] \nWhat is a BioBlitz?\nIt’s an inventory of living things. Lost River Cave is partnering with Wild Ones Southern Kentucky Chapter to inventory spring ephemerals in the meadow. \n  \nParticipants will have a brief introduction to the native plants that have been added to the meadow since 2019. Pictures of these native species will be available to help with plant identification. You can also use the iNaturalist or Seek apps to aid in identification. Our BioBlitz will check for the presence of native flowers\, sedges\, and grasses that have been planted in the meadow. The area is gridded off to make it easier to keep track of it all. This activity is part of the ongoing effort to restore the meadow and collect data to guide its ongoing restoration plan to benefit the wildlife in this special habitat.  Please join us in this worthwhile venture. \n  \nFAQ:\n\nWhat do I need to wear?  We recommend wearing pants\, long sleeves\, and closed-toed shoes.\n\n\nWhat do I need to bring?  Bring gardening gloves\, a reusable water bottle\, and a hat for shade. If you don’t have gloves\, we’ll have some that you can borrow.\n\n\nWhat age can participate?  We recommend participants be over the age of 10\, but all ages are welcome.
