This community-driven program invites volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to come together and help protect our park’s natural ecosystem. During the VIP\, we work to remove invasive\, non-native plant species that threaten the health of local wildlife and native vegetation. It’s a great way to make a tangible impact on the environment\, learn about the importance of biodiversity\, and meet like-minded people who care about conservation. Tools\, gloves\, and guidance will be provided—just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to get your hands dirty. Come as you can\, for the duration you can. \nThis event is perfect for individuals who are comfortable with physical activities such as bending\, crouching\, and pulling. Volunteers will be engaging in hands-on tasks like removing weeds\, digging up roots\, and pulling out invasive plants from the ground.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space]Sign Up[vc_empty_space][vc_separator][vc_column_text] \nFAQ\n\nWhat do I need to wear?  We recommend wearing long pants and closed-toed shoes.\n\n\nWhat do I need to bring?  Bring gardening gloves if you prefer your own and a reusable water bottle. If you don’t have gloves\, we’ll have plenty that you can borrow.\n\n\nWhat age can participate?  We recommend participants be over the age of 8\, but all ages are welcome. Children 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.\n\n\nAre there restrooms?  Restrooms are available inside the gift shop\, but not at the pull site.\n\n\nCan I use this event for service hours?  This event is great for anyone who needs service hours. Bring any needed documentation with you. We’ll complete it onsite.\n\n\nWhat if the weather is bad?  VIP is weather-dependent. This certification is for anyone interested in teaching others about the outdoors in formal or nonformal settings.\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \neeFacilitators Caroline Galdi (Lost River Cave)\, Jeanine Huss (Western Kentucky University) and Perry Thomas (KY Association for Environmental Education) will lead participants in a full day of dynamic learning.\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \n\nBy the end of the day\, each participant will be certified in 3 nationally recognized environmental education curricula: Project WET\, Project WILD\, and Project Learning Tree. Copies of each curriculum book are included with registration.\n\n[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]Participants who complete the Core Curriculum training will also have completed the prerequisite for eeFacilitator training\, which will take place at Lost River Cave on August 7th.[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text] \nPre-registration on the KAEE website is required. This community-driven program invites volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to come together and help protect our park’s natural ecosystem. During the VIP\, we work to remove invasive\, non-native plant species that threaten the health of local wildlife and native vegetation. It’s a great way to make a tangible impact on the environment\, learn about the importance of biodiversity\, and meet like-minded people who care about conservation. Tools\, gloves\, and guidance will be provided—just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to get your hands dirty. Come as you can\, for the duration you can. \n  \nThis event is perfect for individuals who are comfortable with physical activities such as bending\, crouching\, and pulling. Volunteers will be engaging in hands-on tasks like removing weeds\, digging up roots\, and pulling out invasive plants from the ground.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space]Sign Up[vc_empty_space][vc_separator][vc_column_text] \nFAQ\n\nWhat do I need to wear?  We recommend wearing long pants and closed-toed shoes.\n\n\nWhat do I need to bring?  Bring gardening gloves if you prefer your own and a reusable water bottle. If you don’t have gloves\, we’ll have plenty that you can borrow.\n\n\nWhat age can participate?  We recommend participants be over the age of 8\, but all ages are welcome. Children 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.\n\n\nAre there restrooms?  Restrooms are available inside the gift shop\, but not at the pull site.\n\n\nCan I use this event for service hours?  This event is great for anyone who needs service hours. Bring any needed documentation with you. We’ll complete it onsite.\n\n\nWhat if the weather is bad?  VIP is weather-dependent. This community-driven program invites volunteers of all ages and backgrounds to come together and help protect our park’s natural ecosystem. During the VIP\, we work to remove invasive\, non-native plant species that threaten the health of local wildlife and native vegetation. It’s a great way to make a tangible impact on the environment\, learn about the importance of biodiversity\, and meet like-minded people who care about conservation. Tools\, gloves\, and guidance will be provided—just bring your enthusiasm and a willingness to get your hands dirty. Come as you can\, for the duration you can. \nThis event is perfect for individuals who are comfortable with physical activities such as bending\, crouching\, and pulling. Volunteers will be engaging in hands-on tasks like removing weeds\, digging up roots\, and pulling out invasive plants from the ground.[/vc_column_text][vc_empty_space]Sign Up[vc_empty_space][vc_separator][vc_column_text] \nFAQ\n\nWhat do I need to wear?  We recommend wearing long pants and closed-toed shoes.\n\n\nWhat do I need to bring?  Bring gardening gloves if you prefer your own and a reusable water bottle. If you don’t have gloves\, we’ll have plenty that you can borrow.\n\n\nWhat age can participate?  We recommend participants be over the age of 8\, but all ages are welcome. Children 16 and younger must be accompanied by an adult.\n\n\nAre there restrooms?  Restrooms are available inside the gift shop\, but not at the pull site.\n\n\nCan I use this event for service hours?  This event is great for anyone who needs service hours.
