Cave Boat Tour
Your tour begins with a leisurely stroll in the valley as your guide shares the tale of the blue hole and disappearing Civil War soldiers. When you board the boat at the cave entrance, prepare to duck your head for just a moment before the passage opens into an enormous cathedral-like cavern. Ticket Information
Junior Naturalist Program
The group will meet every other month to discover, investigate and have fun adventures in the outdoors. Nature Center programs at Lost River Cave are designed to give young people hands-on experiences.
Host your child’s birthday party at Lost River Cave! Our birthday packages are a mix of hands-on experiences and fun. Please submit your reservation at least two weeks in advance. Tip: We offer cool party favors from $1-$5.

Stretch your legs on nearly two miles of easy walking trails. Explore blue holes, limestone bluffs and a natural spring. Along the Blue Hole Trail, you can visit the remains of stone buildings that once stored dynamite used in quarrying limestone. Pets on leashes are welcome, please leave only paw prints.
Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom
Certified by the Arbor Day Foundation and designed for children ages 2-12 with adult supervision, the Nature Explore Outdoor Classroom is a dynamic, nature-scape for playing and learning. Features include Thistle Theater, Scout’s Lookout, the Fox Hole, Nature’s Art Studio, 3 Sister’s Garden and more!
Mysterious and beautiful, our spring is a 1/2 mile walk from the visitor’s center. Water flowing from deep underground travels through limestone bedrock to appear on the surface. The spring stays cool year round. It’s a great place to relax, kick your shoes off and dip your toes in on a hot summer day.
Junior Tour Guide Program
Your child can become an official Young Interpreter by participating in three of five activities outlined in the handy guide book. Everything you need to get started is provided FREE in the Lost River Cave Visitor Center.
Bring your smart phone and use simple instructions from the Visitors Center to turn your phone into a GPS unit. If you happen to have your own GPS, you can grab a copy of the coordinates, plug them in, and go hunting.
The bird blind and the valley are perfect places to bird watch, with over 130 species sighted.
Stop by Wildflower Gifts to to pick a Bird Bingo activity sheet. Binoculars are available for use on the property with photo identification.
The Blue Hole trail leads you to the enchanting Butterfly Habitat (seasonal). When you enter the enclosed garden, you will be surrounded by Kentucky’s native butterflies.

Inspire your budding geologists as they pan for gemstone or fossil treasures! They’ll find Rose Quartz, Amethyst, Pyrite, Amber or even Horn Coral! Along with the bag of treasure filled sluice material, children receive a key card which will help them identify their new treasures.
Nature Trading Post
At the Nature Trading Post, children can share exciting finds discovered outdoors. Through the point system, their fun finds are traded for other interesting items at the Nature Trading Post. Open the 2nd and 4th Saturday, April – October.
